VE day 80th anniversary celebration
Posted 8th May 2025
On Thursday 8 May, Dixons Croxteth joined the rest of the country celebrating the 80th anniversary of VE Day.
Morning Meeting had a focus on the VE Day celebrations of 1945 and students learned about the celebrations taking place across the country to mark the 80th anniversary. In lessons, students found out about different aspects of the war that related to each subject. In History students learned about how VE Day unfolded and how people celebrated. In English students looked at war poetry and in Art students studied the war themed GCSE work of one of our Year 11 students which prompted some fantastic conversations about the different experiences of staff and students' families during the war.
At lunch students were able to sample some traditional WW2 themed food that would have been commonly served at the numerous street parties up and down the country.
We are really proud of the way our students showed respect and interest in this historically important day.
