Sports day 2025
Posted 11th July 2025
For the first time since Dixons took over the academy, the entire student body came off timetable to participate in, observe, and support our first Sports Day.
The atmosphere was electric. Students demonstrated our core values throughout the day, supporting one another, offering encouragement and advice, and competing with pride for their houses in our newly relaunched house system.
One of my personal highlights was the Year 10 tug of war. It was a fiercely contested event, but what stood out most was the sportsmanship shown afterwards. The winning team immediately went over to congratulate and support the other side, a spontaneous act of kindness and integrity that made me incredibly proud of the young people we are nurturing here at Dixons Croxteth.
I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all our students for their outstanding conduct and enthusiasm, and to our staff for their hard work in planning and delivering such a successful day.

“Our first sports day as Dixons Croxteth was a major success . It was a pleasure to see all out students enjoying themselves. Watching the students’ pride in their achievements and receiving their medals was the highlight of the day.”
Mr Makin, Vice Principal
“ It was an opportunity for me to show our value of hard work because even though my event was difficult, I kept going to finish.”
Joju, Year 8 student

“After a couple of years of waiting, it's inspiring to see our students back on the field taking part in our sport day tradition, putting into competition their sporting skills from the curriculum and demonstrating hard work, resilience, team spirit, and the true joy of coming together as a school community through sport. It was a truly joyous afternoon.”
Mr Little, Assistant Prinicpal
“I had lots of fun even though I felt so tired, I pushed myself to keep going and finished 2nd.”
