Reading mastery

Reading Mastery is our exciting new reading initiative! Everyday, students will attend a session with their form class in which they are read to by a member of staff while they follow the story in their own copy of the text. We have chosen some fantastic texts to develop curiosity, build vocabulary and create a love for reading. 

Reading aloud to students is an exciting and rewarding experience for both staff and students alike; reading aloud also builds vocabulary, improves comprehension and active listening, reduces stress and cognitive load, strengthens fluency and can help to improve working memory. We are very proud of our new Reading Mastery programme and hope that it brings joy and happiness into the academy.
