International maths week at Dixons Croxteth
Posted 21st November 2025
This week marks International Maths Week, and as always, it is a key event in the Dixons Croxteth calendar. Our brilliant Maths Faculty has led the way in promoting the joy of mathematics through challenges, quizzes, brainteasers, and fascinating mathematical facts. The buzz around school has been incredible, students have experienced curiosity, excitement, and even a few moments of frustration as they tackled some truly tricky problems.
One of the most interesting facts shared this week is:
Did you know that in a room of just 23 people, there’s a 50% chance that two people share the same birthday? This surprising probability result is known as the Birthday Paradox.
Daily Maths Challenges – Can You Beat Our Students?
One of the highlights of Maths Week has been our Daily Maths Challenges. These have been featured in our newsletters and bulletins, and now we are inviting families to join the fun!
Take some time to have a go at all five challenges and do not forget to ask your child if they know the answers. If you are curious about the solutions, come along to Parents’ Evening, where we will reveal them all.
We hope these activities spark a love of maths and encourage curiosity at home. Maths is not just about numbers, it is about patterns, logic, and problem-solving skills that shape the way we understand the world.
So, grab a pencil, challenge yourself, and see if you can match the success of our students!
